The arrival of boutique shops and small scale restaurants in recent years has rejuvenated Salt Lake City’s 9th and 9th neighborhood. In that spirit, the owners of an existing salon and antique store within the heart of 9th and 9th sought to refresh their property – in terms of building use and street appeal – and tap into this energy. Blalock and Partners’ solution was a reconfiguration of the building’s front façade, along with the addition of a large outdoor seating area and entry sequence. The renovation brings new life to the building while solving the two issues of limited seating capacity and inadequate ADA access.
