American Fork Fire Station 52

In response to a rapidly growing population and an increase in emergency call volume, in the fall of 2019, American Fork City announced plans for a second fire station.  Strategically located at the intersection of 4800 West and Harvey Blvd, the new American Fork Fire Station 52 allows emergency responders to now reach the northwest quadrant of the city within the target of four to six minutes.  In the vein of response time efficiency – crucial to any emergency response facility – Blalock and Partners established a floor plan configuration that allows quick access to the apparatus bays from any point in the facility.  The facility program includes a space unique to a typical fire station – a six lane shooting range dedicated to the American Fork Police Department.  Its position within the overall building footprint presented a unique architectural challenge, but the design team ultimately found a way to balance its architectural volume with the station’s entry and apparatus bay volumes.  These three volumes – all adorned with traditional fire house red brick – sit prominently against the scenic backdrop of Mount Timpanogos in the Wasatch Range.   Construction is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2023.
