The new Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA) is part of the new multi-facility art and theatre campus at Southern Utah University (SUU). Blalock and Partners teamed with Brooks + Scarpa, out of Los Angeles, CA, to create a new program document and master plan for the Southern Utah University Center for the Arts, which includes a new museum building for the SUMA, as well as a new Theatre and Artistic Production building for the Utah Shakespeare Festival. The project includes a sculpture garden, galleries to exhibit the work of students and faculty, art education and teaching, galleries for exhibiting SUU’s art collections, art storage, and other required spaces, that will allow the faculty to receive national accreditation as a university art museum. This world-class museum space serves as an icon for SUU, and is a destination for art-lovers throughout the State of Utah and beyond. Construction was completed in the spring of 2016.
